WASHINGTON, DC —Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig testified in front of the House Veterans Affairs Committee on the epidemic of veteran suicide plaguing Minnesota and states across the country. Despite an ongoing effort by the State of Minnesota and veterans' advocacy groups, Minnesota continues to lose around 100 veterans to suicide every year.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representatives Angie Craig (MN-02), Danny Davis (IL-07) and Jenniffer González-Colón (PR) and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (NY) joined Family Equality for a virtual press conference announcing the introduction of the John Lewis Every Child Deserves a Family Act of 2021. The legislation is named after the late Congressman and civil rights hero John Lewis, an adoptive parent who worked alongside Representative Craig last year to champion the bill in the 116th Congress.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig applauded members of the Minnesota House of Representatives for passing H.F. 600, introduced by House Majority Leader Ryan Winkler, which would legalize the recreational use of cannabis for adults in the state of Minnesota. Craig also called on elected officials in the Minnesota Senate to immediately take up and pass the long overdue legislation, arguing that drug laws governing marijuana usage are outdated and discriminatory.

The Ryan Frascone Memorial Student Loan Relief Act of 2021 was included as part of a package of bills to reform debt collection and curb abuses in the industry.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig introduced the Ryan Frascone Memorial Student Loan Relief Act of 2021, which would close a loophole in federal law to retroactively release all cosigners on all private student loans upon a student's death. In 2018, the law was changed to release bereaved parents from their deceased student's loans – but the change was not retroactive, forcing many families to continue to pay.
