Today, U.S. Rep. Angie Craig voted in support of the fourth COVID-19 legislative package which meets the urgent need of replenishing small business and nonprofit loan programs, increases testing capabilities and supports doctors and hospitals.

"Whether I'm talking with a third-generation small business or a start-up, the needs are the same-- we need more relief for small businesses now," said Rep. Angie Craig. "This is about more than funding small businesses, this is about keeping the American dream alive."

Today, U.S. Reps. Angie Craig (MN-02) and Scott Peters (CA-52) announced the introduction of the Stop Health Premium Spikes Act, a bill that would help mitigate the drastic health care premium increases expected as a result of the unanticipated surge in medical care costs due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. The projected health care costs associated with providing medical care for patients with COVID-19 will be enormous.

Today, U.S. Reps. Angie Craig (MN-02), Ted Deutch (FL-22), Katherine Clark (MA-5) and Brad Schneider (IL-10) introduced the Emergency Supply Chain Transparency Act. The legislation will ensure greater accountability of federal agencies and private-sector partners responsible for the distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other emergency resources under the Defense Protection Act and Stafford Act.

Angie Craig pushed Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Small Business Administration Administrator Jovita Carranza to improve the implementation of Paycheck Protection Program loans for community lenders, small businesses and nonprofits. After sending the letter, the Treasury has issued additional guidance to SBA lenders in the form of an interim final rule.

Yesterday, in a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, U.S. Reps. Angie Craig and Lauren Underwood (IL-14) led a letter with 16 of their colleagues in advocating for the inclusion of their legislative solutions to make health care more affordable in the next Congressional coronavirus relief package. In the letter, Members commended Speaker Pelosi for including provisions to lower the cost of insurance premiums in the Take Responsibility for Workers and Families Act and urged the Speaker to include those policies in upcoming legislation.
