Rep. Angie Craig Announces Veteran Employment Awards

November 11, 2020

Today, U.S. Rep. Angie Craig announced that two employers in Minnesota's Second Congressional District are receiving recognition from the U.S. Department of Labor. Boy's Electric and Huot Construction & Services have been selected as awardees as part of the HIRE Vets Medallion Program which encourages businesses large and small to hire our nation's veterans.

Earlier this year, Rep. Craig voted for $500,000 in funds for the HIRE Vets Medallion Program in the FY 2021 appropriations package. You can learn more about the program here.

"I'm so proud that two small businesses in our community have been recognized for their efforts to hire veterans," said Rep. Craig. "We must ensure that everyone who serves our country has employment options when they return home. I'm thankful that businesses in Minnesota's Second District are leading the effort to support veterans with career opportunities." \

Boy's Electric located in West St. Paul was awarded the Platinum award for small employers. Among other criteria, the platinum award recognizes businesses with at least 10% employment of veterans. Additionally, Huot Construction & Services located in South St. Paul was awarded the Gold award, which recognizes businesses with at least 7% employment of veterans.
