EAGAN, MN – Yesterday, U.S. Representative Angie Craig dropped off cards from her 2021 "Valentines for Veterans" Program at the Post Office in Eagan, MN. These cards will be delivered to the Hastings Veterans Home to thank local heroes for their service.

Representative Craig launched her "Valentines for Veterans" program in 2020, encouraging families across Minnesota's Second Congressional District to show appreciation for our servicemembers by making homemade Valentine's Day cards.

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig and her colleagues on the House Energy and Commerce Committee advanced a crucial portion of the upcoming COVID relief legislation which would provide billions of dollars in funding for vaccine distribution and other public health measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The package also included additional funds to support mental health programs and resources to ease challenges associated with distance learning for students and teachers unable to return to the classroom.

In previous bills signed into law, many Americans, including dependents over the age of 16, college students and disabled adults, were excluded from being counted for receiving economic assistance checks from the federal government.

WASHINGTON, DC — Last night, at a House Small Business Committee markup, U.S. Representative Angie Craig and her colleagues voted to advance legislation that included a relief grant program for struggling restaurants, wrapping up a months-long effort to provide support to small businesses across the country. Among other provisions, the package advanced by the House Small Business Committee included $25 billion for the creation of the Restaurants Revitalization Fund, which would provide financial support to struggling food and drinking establishments.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig released a letter to Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Acting Director Rob Fairweather requesting full funding of the Safeguarding Tomorrow through Ongoing Risk Mitigation Act of 2020 (STORM Act) which was signed into law by President Trump on January 1, 2021. This bipartisan disaster mitigation bill aims to help communities across the country prepare for and rebuild from extreme weather events.

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, House Small Business Committee Members Angie Craig and Dean Phillips were joined by Rep. Betty McCollum, and U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith in urging Congressional leaders to include direct financial support to restaurants in the upcoming COVID-19 relief package or as a standalone bill. In a letter addressed to Congressional leaders in both parties, the lawmakers called for a targeted grant relief program, as outlined in the RESTAURANTS Act, to be made a top priority in future negotiations.

In previous relief bills signed into law, many children, including dependents over the age of 16 and full time students claimed as dependents, were excluded from receiving direct payments from the federal government.

WASHINGTON, DC – This week, U.S. Representative Angie Craig joined a bipartisan group of her colleagues as an original cosponsor of legislation to address longstanding financial challenges at the United States Postal Service (USPS). In recent years, operating deficits at USPS have grown, largely due to a law passed in 2006 which required the agency to prefund the health care benefits of future retirees – a burdensome requirement that is not imposed on any other federal agency or private entity.
