A Burnsville, Minnesota, woman who was supposed to have an ovarian cyst removed but was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents days before her surgery is living in severe pain, according to her lawyer.

Rep. Angie Craig is demanding the release of Andrea Pedro-Francisco so she can get the proper care she needs, because it could mean life or death. The 23-year-old has an ovarian cyst the size of a tennis ball that needs to be removed.

U.S. Rep. Angie Craig called on the Trump administration on Monday to release a woman in ICE detention who is suffering from a tennis ball-sized ovarian cyst at risk of rupture and needing urgent medical treatment.

“I am not exaggerating when I say that this is a life-or-death situation,” Craig said on Monday.

U.S. Rep. Angie Craig made an unannounced visit on Thursday to the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building, the hub of the Trump administration’s deportation operations in Minnesota. Thousands of immigrants have passed through Whipple on the way to jails and detention facilities across the country.

Craig, a Democrat representing the south metro, said she came to verify the Trump administration’s compliance with a judge’s order affirming that members of Congress may conduct unannounced inspections of immigration facilities.
