Representative Angie Craig Holds Roundtable Discussion on Reforming Washington

August 12, 2022

After returning more than $2,200,000 to Minnesotans, Representative Craig met with constituents to learn more about how government can best serve them

WEST ST. PAUL, MN – Yesterday, U.S. Representative Angie Craig convened a roundtable with her constituents to hear their stories about navigating federal bureaucracy and talk about ways to make the federal government work better for Minnesotans. Through her casework efforts, Representative Craig has returned more than $2.2 million owed to Minnesotans and helped more than 2,700 Minnesotans resolve issues with federal agencies.

At the roundtable, Craig invited her constituents to share stories about how her office helped resolve issues with Medicare, Social Security, the IRS and more.

"Accessing timely, accurate services from government agencies can be a confusing and frustrating process – and my constituents have told me as much. Far too many Minnesotans have been unable to access the benefits, services and payments they rightfully deserve," said Representative Craig. "My constituents deserve so much more than that – and I will never stop looking for ways to reform this broken system to ensure my constituents are able to navigate the federal government with ease."

"I want to convey my sincere appreciation to Congresswoman Craig and her staff for resolving receiving a refund from the IRS for our small business," said Sue, a constituent from Rosemount who attended the event after working with Representative Craig's team. "After many months and repeated attempts to talk to someone at the IRS about the paperwork we had filed in early 2020, Congresswoman Craig and her staff cut through the bureaucratic tape and within weeks, we received the money we were owed!"

If residents of Minnesota's Second Congressional District are having trouble with a federal agency, they should visit Representative Craig's website at https://craig.house.gov/casework.

Returning money to taxpayers has been a top priority for Craig since she entered Congress. Most recently, she announced that the House Appropriations Committee approved all 15 of her Community Project Funding Submissions, advancing more than $30 million for projects recommended by local mayors, sheriffs and community leaders that would strengthen the economy and improve infrastructure and public safety in Southeastern Minnesota.
