Craig’s submissions will bring back over $30 million taxpayer dollars, which will be distributed amongst communities across the district
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig announced that the House Appropriations Committee has approved all 15 of her Community Project Funding submissions – advancing more than $30 million for projects in communities across Southeastern Minnesota. Craig's submissions came from local mayors, sheriffs and community leaders and will help to strengthen local infrastructure, grow the economy and improve public safety in communities across the Second District. In the coming months, the full House of Representatives is expected to vote on appropriations packages that will include these projects.
"Finding ways to return money to the hardworking communities of Minnesota's Second District will always be one of my top priorities – especially when that funding leads to economic growth, infrastructure improvements and safer communities," said Representative Craig. Craig submitted her request for Community Project Funding (CPF) for the Fiscal Year 2023 Appropriations process, through which Members of Congress are able to request funding for up to 15 specific projects in their districts which would serve the public good. The House Appropriations Committee intends to fund community projects on a limited basis in the FY23 Appropriations bills. Therefore, CPF requests that address the most significant needs of local communities or provide a significant public good are more likely to be included. The CPF program is being implemented with accountability measures to ensure a responsible and transparent process.
