Rep. Angie Craig Urges House Leadership to Pass Second District Priorities in Year-End Legislation
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig sent a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries urging them to pass legislation significant to Minnesota's Second Congressional District through the House before the end of the 118th Congress.
Rep. Craig is pushing to get Minnesotans the support they need to combat the fentanyl crisis, lower costs for families and keep police officers safe on the job.
Rep. Craig emphasized the importance of passing her bipartisan Cooper Davis and Devin Norring Act to target illicit drug sales on social media platforms and her bipartisan Kid PROOF Act, which would ensure parents of at-risk youth can access the safety supplies they need to keep lethal means, like firearms and prescription medications, stored away safely. She also asked for her bipartisan bill, the RECONNECTIONS Act, which passed the House Floor last December, to be included in any final health care package to be signed into law.
To lower costs for Minnesotans, Rep. Craig urged votes on the House Floor for her Task Force to Price Gouging Act, which would create a federal task force to investigate corporate and government behavior that results in increased prices for Minnesota families, and her bipartisan Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act to make permanent the year-round sale of E-15 and lower prices at the pump for Minnesotans.
Following the tragic loss of two police officers and one firefighter/paramedic in Burnsville, Minnesota this year, Rep. Craig reiterated the need for a Floor vote on her Protect Local Law Enforcement Act to allow local law enforcement to purchase tactical vehicles with federal funding.
"Every day, I hear from my constituents in Minnesota’s Second District about what they need to combat the fentanyl crisis, lower costs for their families, and ensure their communities stay safe and secure," said Rep. Craig. "I’ll always fight to bring home the commonsense, bipartisan solutions they need."
