VIDEO: U.S. Rep. Angie Craig Questions HHS Secretary on Efforts to Lower Health Care Costs, Combat Fentanyl Crisis
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig pressed Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra for additional information on the ways the Administration is working to lower health care costs and combat the fentanyl crisis.
During a congressional hearing, Rep. Craig and Secretary Becerra discussed how the Affordable Care Act has provided a record number of Americans with health insurance coverage, the importance of lowering the cost of health care for Americans and the steps the Administration is taking to address the fentanyl crisis.
“I was proud to see President Biden sign my bill, the END FENTANYL Act, into law last month. The legislation requires Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to update its manuals at least every three years in order to identify new ways to prevent drug and human smuggling through ports of entry. This is a critical step in the right direction, and I am interested to know how our public health agencies are working to improve outcomes in concert with law enforcement,” said Rep. Craig.
