U.S. Representative Angie Craig Secures $5 Million to Improve Traffic Safety in Cottage Grove
The funding will be used to upgrade traffic signals at major intersections and improve accessibility features along the 80th Street corridor
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Craig secured $5 million to help improve traffic safety along the 80th Street corridor in Cottage Grove.
The 80th Street corridor is an important retail, commercial and transportation hub for the growing city of Cottage Grove and currently sees about 24,000 vehicles per day.
Rep. Craig pushed to secure funding to upgrade traffic signals at major intersections and invest in pedestrian safety.
“Upgrading our road infrastructure makes our communities safer, and this funding will provide long-overdue improvements to the safety and accessibility of the 80th Street corridor. I’m proud to be bringing these dollars home to the Second District,” said Rep. Craig.
“Reconstructing the 80th Street Corridor will allow us to provide critical improvements to this vital transportation, commercial and resident hub here in Cottage Grove,” said Cottage Grove Mayor Myron Bailey. “I’m grateful for Rep. Craig’s work to secure the funding necessary to providing these long-overdue upgrades, and I know this funding will benefit Cottage Grove residents and visitors to our great city.”
The project funding will help upgrade traffic signals at major intersections along the 80th Street corridor – including at Hardwood Avenue, East Point Douglas Road, Hinton Avenue and Hyde Avenue. Additionally, it will allow for the replacement of failing infrastructure and would make improvements along the corridor to ensure its adherence to the Americans with Disabilities Act.
