ROSEMOUNT, MN – U.S. Representative Angie Craig secured nearly $1 million in federal funding to improve public transportation and create economic growth in Rosemount.
Rep. Craig requested this funding for the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MTVA) last year.MVTA will receive $952,000 in federal funding to provide sustainability and safety updates to the Rosemount Transit and 157th Street Station and increase public transit ridership in the South Metro.
Rep. Craig toured the Rosemount station with MVTA CEO Luther Wydner and Rosemount Mayor Jeff Weisensel earlier this week.
“Providing these critical improvements to the MVTA Rosemount Transit and 157th Street Station will bring tremendous benefits to the South Metro: reduce carbon emissions, encourage Minnesotans to utilize public transportation and boost economic opportunity to help create 6,000 new jobs by 2040. I’m pleased we were able to bring these federal dollars home to Rosemount,” said Rep. Craig.
These new updates will expand public transit to 13,000 Minnesotans, help create thousands of new jobs and increase Minnesotans’ access to cleaner transportation options.
