U.S. Rep. Angie Craig Secures More Than $1 Million for Minnesota Law Enforcement
Federal funds will be used to hire six new police officers and promote officer wellbeing
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig secured $1.1 million in federal funding to support law enforcement across Minnesota’s Second District.
The funding includes Department of Justice Cops Hiring Program grants, Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act grants, and Community Policing Development grants.
“Keeping Minnesotans safe is the most important part of my job, and that’s what these federal dollars will help accomplish,” said Rep. Craig. “These grants will also help ensure local law enforcement have the support they need to stay mentally strong in a challenging job – which has been a focus of mine in Congress. I’ll keep working alongside local law enforcement and with members of both parties to get Minnesota police officers the support they need.”

Apple Valley was awarded $250,000 for 2 officers
Inver Grove Heights was awarded $375,000 for 3 officers
Newport was awarded $125,000 for 1 officer
Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act Grants:
West St. Paul was awarded $119,833
Community Policing Development:
MN Police Chiefs Association was awarded $298,316 for their accreditation program
