U.S. Rep. Angie Craig Honors Second District Educators

Craig hosted her annual luncheon to celebrate the 11 Second District educators nominated for the Minnesota Teacher of the Year Award

ROSEMOUNT, MN – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig hosted a luncheon to congratulate each of the eleven Second District educators nominated for the Minnesota Teacher of the Year Award. 

During the event, Rep. Craig spent time discussing the challenges each of the educators are facing in their roles and hearing how Congress can best support teachers – both inside and outside the classroom.

“Our educators are facing a tremendous number of challenges right now – but every day, they show up to work ready to put our children first,” said Rep. Craig. “Today, we celebrated and honored the 11 Second District educators nominated for the Minnesota Teacher of the Year Award – our schools and our communities are better for their hard work and dedication.”

“Minnesota’s teachers bring their absolute best to the classroom every day to prepare their students for successful lives. We are proud to honor them by underwriting the Minnesota Teacher of the Year program, and we commend education champions like Rep. Angie Craig for recognizing their work and fighting for them in Washington, D.C,” said Denise Specht, President of Education Minnesota.

Rep. Craig has been a longtime advocate for Minnesota public schools and special education funding, leading the pushto ensure that the federal government upholds its promise to support special education and ensure that the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA) is fully funded.
