U.S. Rep. Angie Craig Continues Push to Ban Members of Congress from Trading Stocks
Rep. Craig’s legislation would immediately ban current Members of the House from buying and trading individual stocks
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, as part of her continued efforts to reform Washington, U.S. Representative Angie Craig reintroduced her NO STOCK Resolution.
Rep. Craig’s legislation would require every sitting member of the U.S. House of Representatives to immediately sell their individual stocks and refrain from future stock ownership while in office.
“It’s simple: Members of Congress should be focused on serving their constituents, not playing the stock market. This is stand-alone legislation that would require it,” said Rep. Craig.
This bill is the latest push from Rep. Craig in her effort to address even the appearance of corruption in Washington.
In January, she reintroduced her HUMBLE Act, which was a broader reform bill that would impose a lifetime ban on Members of Congress from working as registered lobbyists after their time in office and ban individual stock ownership – among other reforms.
