Representative Angie Craig Statement on House Passage of the Equality Act

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig released the following statement on the House passage of the Equality Act, a groundbreaking piece of legislation which expands the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and other existing statutes to extend non-discrimination protections to the LGBTQ community. Representative Angie Craig is the first openly LGBTQ Member of Congress from Minnesota, a co-chair of the LGBTQ Equality Caucus, and an original cosponsor of the Equality Act.

"As a young lesbian woman growing up in rural America, I never imagined I'd finally see a bill like this reach the House floor – much less as a Member of this body. I am honored to help pass this long-overdue legislation, which represents the culmination of lifetimes of hard work for so many.
