Representative Angie Craig Meets with Ukrainian Families to Mark 6-Month Anniversary of Russian Invasion
In the wake of Russia’s unprovoked attack on Ukraine, Representative Craig helped displaced Ukrainians find safety in Minnesota
EAGAN, MN – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig met with the Ukrainian families she helped welcome to Minnesota in the wake of Russia's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. Working with the Uniting for Ukraine program, Representative Craig's office has helped displaced Ukrainians evacuate and settle in the Second District. Since April, Craig has worked with her team to provide families with a sense of safety, stability and normalcy in the wake of Russia's invasion.
"Six months ago, my heart broke watching the news coming out of Ukraine – but it's hard to truly comprehend the life-shattering impact of Putin's invasion without hearing from the families who experienced it firsthand," said Representative Craig. "Today, I was able to hear from the Ukrainian families helped by my office about their experiences leaving Ukraine and settling here in Minnesota – and it's clear, now, more than ever, we must stand with the innocent men, women and children who have suffered unimaginable consequences as a result of Putin's actions."

On April 21st, the Uniting for Ukraine program was implemented as a key step toward fulfilling the United States' commitment to welcoming Ukrainians fleeing Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Uniting for Ukraine provides a pathway for displaced Ukrainian citizens and their immediate family members to come to the United States. Through the Uniting for Ukraine program, Representative Craig and her team have helped numerous Ukrainian families fleeing violence and persecution settle in the Second District.
