Representative Angie Craig Hosts Rural Health Advisory Council Meeting
Representative Craig started the council in January 2020 to identify solutions for addressing health care disparities impacting America’s rural communities
Minnesota — Yesterday, U.S. Representative Angie Craig hosted her Rural Health Advisory Council meeting. In January of 2020, Representative Craig was appointed to the House Select Committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth, where she was tasked with representing the interests of family farmers and rural communities across the country. Following this appointment, Representative Craig started the Rural Health Advisory Council, a group of local health care leaders and experts with whom she could meet to discuss the pressing health care disparities facing rural communities and to focus on bipartisan, commonsense solutions to address them.

"Since January 2020, each and every member of my Rural Health Advisory Council has provided me with invaluable insight on the steps Congress needs to take to effectively address the health care disparities that our rural communities too often confront," said Representative Craig. "I am so proud of all that we have been able to accomplish together – passing the Affordable Insulin Now Act, establishing a mental health crisis line, advocating for expanded telehealth services and more – and I look forward to finding new ways to continue advocating for our rural communities across the district."
As a member of the House Select Committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth, Representative Craig has made bringing the voices of America's rural communities to Washington, DC a top priority. In order to ensure that everyone, no matter their zip code or income level, has access to high-quality, affordable health care options, Representative Craig has championed efforts to lower the cost of life-sustaining and lifesaving prescription drugs, establish a suicide prevention and mental health crisis hotline, improve and expand telehealth access and increase broadband access for America's rural communities.
