Representative Angie Craig Hosts Cannon Falls Family Farmer at Agriculture Committee Hearing

June 23, 2021

Craig’s invitation continues her ongoing effort to bring the voices of family farmers in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District to the Halls of Congress

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig hosted Rob Tate, a fifth-generation family farmer from Cannon Falls, at a House Agriculture General Farm Commodities & Risk Management Subcommittee hearing. Mr. Tate provided key testimony on the importance of the farm safety net for producers in Minnesota's Second Congressional District and across the country that have been dealing with extreme volatility over the last few years. In addition to farming, working as a crop insurance agent and advising agricultural producers in his community as a crop revenue consultant, Mr. Tate serves on the board of the Minnesota Corn Growers Association and on various civic boards in his community.

"As a Member of Congress, it is not only my job but also my pleasure to bring the voices of folks from our communities to important policy conversations in Washington," said Representative Craig. "It was such an honor to host Rob at today's Agriculture Committee hearing and to hear his perspective on how we can protect the farm safety net and ensure stability for our farmers and producers back home in Minnesota."

Representative Craig has made it a priority to use her seat on the House Agriculture Committee to bring the voices of Minnesota family farmers to the table in Washington. She has previously hosted farmers John Zimmerman and Mike Peterson from Northfield, as well as Kathy Zeman who farms in Rice County.
