Representative Angie Craig Honors Shakopee Hero on the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig honored the heroic actions of a Shakopee constituent on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.
On May 26, 2019, David Brown of Shakopee, Minnesota saved the lives of two men who were struggling to swim in the frigid waters of the Gull River. The men had entered the water to save a friend who was having difficulty returning to the bank due to a strong current. Despite the risk to his own safety, Brown jumped into the 57-degree waters and brought both men back to shore while another saved their friend.
Brown has received a Carnegie Medal from the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission for his act of heroism. The commission awards individuals in the United States and Canada who risk their lives to an extraordinary degree saving or attempting to save the lives of others.
A clip of Representative Craig's floor speech is available here. A transcript of her remarks is below.
