Representative Angie Craig Honored by Minnesota’s Alliance for Retired Americans
The HERO Award recognizes Members of Congress who consistently vote to protect retirement benefits, such as Social Security and Medicare
BURNSVILLE, MN – Yesterday, U.S. Representative Angie Craig was awarded the HERO Award by Minnesota's Alliance of Retired Americans for her perfect Congressional voting record on the issues most critical to Minnesotan seniors, such as strengthening and maintaining Social Security and Medicare. Numerous representatives from the local Alliance chapter joined Representative Craig at her Burnsville office to present her with the award.
"The Minnesota Alliance for Retired Americans and I share the common belief that after a lifetime of hard work, Minnesota's seniors deserve to retire with dignity and without the fear of poverty," said Representative Craig. "So, I'm thrilled to receive this award today and will continue my work to protect our seniors' earned retirement benefits and fight for high-quality, affordable health care."

The Alliance for Retired Americans' 2021 Congressional Voting Record scored elected officials from Minnesota on ten key issues selected as areas of critical importance to retirees. In the House, these issues included votes to stop Medicare cuts, protect older workers, allow for Medicare drug price negotiations and Representative Craig's bill to cap insulin copays for those on Medicare at $35 per month. On each of these, Representative Craig has voted in favor of Minnesota's seniors and retirees.
Representative Craig has also sought to support seniors by introducing the You Earned It, You Keep It Act to eliminate federal taxes on Social Security income while also improving the long-term solvency of Social Security.
