Representative Angie Craig Announces National Public Works Week

May 17, 2021

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Craig announced the introduction of H.Res.399, a bipartisan resolution to recognize this week as National Public Works Week. Rep. Craig authored this resolution to celebrate the vital work of our nation's public works professionals who manage water, sewer and public transportation systems and maintain public buildings and grounds. The resolution expresses gratitude to these public works professionals for playing a key role in helping the United States recover from the COVID–19 pandemic.

"I'm thrilled to recognize this week as National Public Works Week to honor the critical work that goes into keeping our neighborhoods safe and operating smoothly," said Representative Craig. "We owe a debt of gratitude to the thousands of engineers, managers and workers who serve our communities every day by keeping our roads safe, our water clean and the many public works systems we take for granted running without issues – especially during the COVID-19 pandemic."

"APWA greatly appreciates the efforts of Representative Craig, as well as House Public Works and Infrastructure Caucus Co-Chairs Representative Titus and Representative Fitzpatrick, to recognize National Public Works Week 2021. Despite the difficulties of the past year, public works professionals have continued to maintain critical infrastructure, respond to emergencies, and deliver essential services. This resolution honors and raises awareness of the important work public works does to advance quality of life for all," said APWA President Mary Joyce Ivers.

The Resolution is supported by the American Public Works Association and cosponsored by Public Works Caucus Co-Chairs Dina Titus and Brian Fitzpatrick. You can read the full text of the resolution
