Representative Angie Craig Announces Minnesota will Receive $42 Million to Bolster Its Public Health Infrastructure
The Minnesota Department of Health is set to receive $42.8 million through the CDC’s Public Health Infrastructure Grant
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig announced that the Minnesota Department of Health is set to receive $42.8 million through the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) Public Health Infrastructure Grant. This grant will give the department an increased ability to meet their staffing and workforce needs, as well as ensure that Minnesota’s public health infrastructure has access to the resources needed to safeguard public health.
This grant was funded in part through the American Rescue Plan, which Representative Craig helped pass last year.
“By investing in our public health infrastructure, we are investing in our communities’ safety and wellbeing. This federal funding will help our state’s public health systems effectively address any staffing and workforce needs and ensure that our Minnesotans are able to access the care they need – and I know it will bring great benefit to communities across Minnesota,” said Representative Craig.
This year, the CDC has provided $3.2 billion in funding through the Public Health Infrastructure Grant to help state, local and territorial jurisdictions across the United States strengthen their public health workforce and infrastructure. The federal funding will provide awards directly to state, local and territorial health departments to provide the people, resources and systems needed to promote and protect health in the United States.
