Rep. Craig Secures More Than $10 Million for Low Emission Buses and Bus Infrastructure in MN02
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Rep. Craig announced that she secured $10,720,000 in federal funding for the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA) to add hybrid diesel buses to its fleet and modernize the Burnsville Bus Garage. MVTA will receive $8,000,000 from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Low-or-No-Emission Grant Program to support its fleet expansion and $2,720,000 from DOT’s Buses and Bus Facilities Competitive Grant Program to fund Phase IV of the Burnsville Bus Garage Modernization project.
Rep. Craig advocated for this funding and wrote letters of support to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for both projects.
“Minnesotans depend on safe and reliable public transportation to get around, and that starts with modernizing our bus infrastructure and getting more low emission buses on our streets,” said Rep. Craig. “I’m proud to have worked with MVTA and local officials to bring this federal funding back to MN02 that will help reduce our carbon footprint, improve public transit and increase traffic to local businesses.”
