Rep. Craig, Dairy Industry Applaud USTR Efforts to Address Canadian Tariff Rate Quota Violations
WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative announced that they will begin consultations on the enforcement of Canada's tariff rate quota (TRQ) allocations for imported dairy products. U.S. Representative Angie Craig joined the National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) in applauding this news.
"Dairy farmers in Minnesota and across the country have faced unprecedented challenges in recent years," said Representative Craig. "I supported the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement to help make it possible for our family farmers to compete on a level playing field. I'm proud to see USMCA working for our dairy industry to bring market fairness and stability."
"Representative Craig helped deliver USMCA for Minnesota's dairy farmers and farmer-owned cooperatives and now is working hard to hold Canada accountable to its trade promises. USMCA is designed to bring tangible benefits home to America's dairy industry, yet Canada has manipulated its market access commitments, threatening these hard-fought wins. We applaud Congresswoman Craig for her leadership on this critical issue." – Jim Mulhern, President & CEO, National Milk Producers Federation
Representative Craig sits on the House Agriculture Committee where she has stood with the National Milk Producers Federation and colleagues from both parties in efforts to ensure the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement is fully enforced.
