Rep. Angie Craig’s Bipartisan Broadband Bill Headed to House Floor

May 24, 2023

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Rep. Angie Craig’s bipartisan legislation to streamline high-speed internet expansion passed the Energy and Commerce Committee with support from Democrats and Republicans. The legislation now heads to the House Floor.

The Expediting Federal Broadband Deployment Reviews Act would direct the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to create a new system for prioritizing broadband deployment requests on federal land.

Rep. Craig’s bipartisan legislation would help ensure the U.S. Department of Interior and U.S. Forest Service are working together effectively to expand broadband as quickly as possible.

There are more than 3.4 million acres of federal land in Minnesota.

“In the 21st century, we should be doing everything we can to connect Minnesotans with the high-speed internet they need – and my bipartisan bill will help get us there. I’m pleased to see my bill headed to the House Floor with bipartisan support and will be working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to get this one passed,” said Rep. Craig.

Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC) is the lead Republican sponsor.
