Rep. Angie Craig Successfully Includes Second Congressional District Priorities In Year-End Action

December 17, 2019

Today, U.S. Rep. Angie Craig voted for the end-of-year legislation that includes nearly all of the priorities Rep. Craig urged leadership to include as priorities of Minnesota's Second Congressional District.

Today's bipartisan package includes:

  • the CREATES Act to lower the cost of prescription drugs
  • a permanent repeal of the Cadillac Tax on health insurance plans
  • extending the biodiesel tax credit for five years
  • a $400M increase in IDEA funding for our schools
  • raising the minimum age to purchase any tobacco products, including vaping products
  • investing in Head Start at unprecedented levels, to make sure our littlest learners have a high-quality education
  • increasing the Pell Grant for students in college and post-secondary institutions
  • blocking a raise for Members of Congress
  • allowing the CDC to research gun violence for the first time in more than 20 years
  • funding rural broadband
  • providing high-quality health care, including mental health services by funding Community Health Centers and Certified Community Behavioral Clinics

"Every day I look for ways to find commonsense, bipartisan solutions for the issues hard-working Minnesotans talk with me about," said Rep. Craig. "I'm pleased to support today's bipartisan year-end package that prioritizes solutions to lower the cost of prescription drugs, invest in infrastructure - including rural broadband, support our family farmers by extending the biodiesel tax credit for five years, and invest in our schools and students with IDEA and Head Start investments."

Rep. Craig has authored 17 bills and cosponsored over 330 additional bills - more than two thirds of which are bipartisan, and held 12 town halls across Minnesota's Second Congressional District.
