Rep. Angie Craig Secures Federal Investment to Help Expand Energy Options in Shakopee
Shakopee’s CertainTeed will receive $400,000 in federal funding from the Department of Energy to expand their solar power technologies
SHAKOPEE, MN – U.S. Representative Angie Craig secured $400,000 in federal funding to help CertainTeed in Shakopee, Minnesota expand their use of solar energy in their manufacturing process.
Rep. Craig helped secure this funding through her support of appropriations legislation last year.
“We know that an all-of-the-above energy approach is crucial when it comes to lowering consumer costs and effectively addressing the environmental challenges of the 21st century – and investing in solar power is a crucial component of that approach. I’m proud to be bringing home these federal dollars and will keep looking for ways to expand Minnesotans’ access to cheaper and cleaner energy alternatives,” said Rep. Craig.
The funding will be provided through the U.S. Department of Energy’s Community Power Accelerator Prize, which provides funding for projects and initiatives that seek to increase access to cleaner and cheaper energy alternatives – like solar power – in communities across the country.
