Rep. Angie Craig Secures $800,000 to Build a Public Safety Training Facility in Lakeville
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Angie Craig secured $800,000 in federal funding to build a new public safety training facility in Lakeville.
Last year, Rep. Craig worked with Lakeville Mayor Luke Hellier and Police Chief Brad Paulson to secure the funding needed to build a state-of-the-art training facility, the FiRST Center, for Lakeville and Dakota County law enforcement.
“As public officials, we have a responsibility to provide every member of the law enforcement community with the training, resources and protection they need to do their jobs – and do their jobs safely. Dakota County law enforcement deserves a state-of-the-art training facility like the FiRST Center – and I’m proud to be bringing these federal dollars home,” said Rep. Craig.

The FiRST Center will provide local law enforcement agencies with training areas, classrooms, meeting spaces and resources for tactical training. Additionally, the facility’s construction will create jobs and spur economic development across Dakota County.
