Rep. Angie Craig Secures $1.6 Million to Improve Traffic Safety in Cottage Grove
Funding will be used to improve traffic flow between the Jamaica and Keats Avenue interchanges on U.S. Highway 61
COTTAGE GROVE, MN – U.S. Representative Angie Craig secured $1.6 million in federal funding for the City of Cottage Grove to redesign and realign the Jamaica and Keats Avenue interchanges along U.S. Highway 61.
Last year, Rep. Craig launched a push for federal funding to help Cottage Grove improve traffic flow between the Jamaica and Keats Avenue interchanges on U.S. Highway 61. This project would also help make 2,000 acres available for industrial and residential development projects and support South Metro businesses.
“This realignment will bring tremendous benefit to everyone living in the South Metro. It will help strengthen our local economy, support Cottage Grove’s small businesses and improve safety for Minnesota’s bikers, drivers and pedestrians – and I’m pleased to be bringing home the funding needed to make it a reality,” said Rep. Craig.
The funding will be used to construct a new roadway alignment and implement a railway grade separation to evenly distribute regional traffic between the Jamaica and Keats Avenue interchanges on U.S. Highway 61 and establish 100th Street S as the Southwest Arterial connection necessary to open over 2,000 acres of development.
