Rep. Angie Craig Pushes EPA to Recognize Environmental Benefit of Homegrown Biofuels

November 1, 2023

WASHINGTON,  DC – U.S. Representative Angie Craig is working to pass bipartisan, bicameral legislation to ensure the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) modeling accurately reflects the environmental benefits of homegrown biofuel production.

The Adopt GREET Act would require the EPA to update its greenhouse gas modeling for ethanol and biodiesel production and continue to update its modeling every five years in accordance with the most recent science and data.

Rep. Craig is introducing the legislation alongside Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-SD), Rep. Adrian Smith (R-NE) and Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI).

“Homegrown biofuels are tools we have at our fingertips right now to help address climate change – and it’s critically important that the EPA’s data accurately reflects that. I’m proud to be working across the aisle to pass this bill and make sure the true benefit that homegrown biofuels bring to our environment, economy and ag communities is recognized,” said Rep. Craig.

U.S. Senators John Thune (R-SD) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) have introduced companion legislation in the Senate.
