Rep. Angie Craig Leads Moment of Silence on House Floor in Honor of Fallen Burnsville First Responders

February 29, 2024

Rep. Craig also introduced a bipartisan resolution honoring their lives and service to Minnesota

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig led the Minnesota House delegation and the House of Representatives in a moment of silence to honor the Burnsville first responders who lost their lives in the line of duty on February 18.

Burnsville police officers Paul Elmstrand, Matthew Ruge and firefighter/paramedic Adam Finseth were killed while responding to a domestic call earlier this month.

In addition to the moment of silence, Rep. Craig introduced a bipartisan resolution honoring their service to the Burnsville community and expressing support for Minnesota law enforcement.

“There are no words to describe the void this loss has left – for their families, Minnesota’s law enforcement community and for the city of Burnsville. Nothing we say today will bring Paul, Matthew and Adam back,” said Rep. Craig on the House Floor. “But these three men are heroes, and we must honor their lives by giving the police officers and first responders who keep our communities safe the support they need to do the job.”
