Rep. Angie Craig Announces Latest USPS Inspector General Report that Reveals Even Further Declining USPS Performance in Minnesota
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig slammed the latest quarterly performance report from the United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General after it revealed a continued decline in USPS performance in Minnesota during Q4 of FY23.
The OIG’s report details deteriorating first-class mail delivery rates in the Minnesota-North Dakota (MN-ND) postal district. Out of country’s 50 total postal districts, MN-ND currently ranks 40th for two-day delivery and 42nd for three-to-five-day delivery. First-class delivery rates have fallen nationally as well.
“This is why I spent the last year and a half calling for action from USPS – and this latest report is proof of how bad service levels are. While USPS officials continue to deny poor service, performance levels have continued to decline over the past year. The results of the ongoing USPS statewide investigation are needed now more than ever, and I’ll keep working to get Minnesotans the reliable mail service they deserve,” said Rep. Craig.
More details from the OIG’s report can be found here.
Rep. Craig has been sounding the alarm on unacceptable USPS performance in the South Metro for over a year and a half.
Last January, she launched an online USPS survey to gauge the extent of postal issues in the Second District and received more than 3,300 responses from Minnesotans. Rep. Craig delivered those responses directly to Postmaster General DeJoy’s office in Washington DC.
Earlier this year, following Rep. Craig’s bipartisan call for a statewide investigation, the USPS OIG announced an investigation of the entire MN-ND postal district. Results of that investigation are expected later this year.
