As Open Enrollment Continues, Representative Angie Craig Encourages Minnesotans to Take Advantage of New Health Care Savings
The Inflation Reduction Act extended the Affordable Care Act’s premium tax credits through 2025, increasing the number of Minnesotans eligible for health care coverage next year
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig encouraged all Minnesotans to visit MNsure.org to see if they or their family members are eligible to access health care savings in 2023. Eligible Minnesotans will save an average of $560/month, or $6,700/year, when they purchase health care coverage through MNsure.
“Over the past few months, we have taken significant steps to make health care more accessible and affordable. By passing the Inflation Reduction Act, we extended the ACA’s tax credits to ensure that families didn’t lose their health insurance. And after successfully pushing the administration to close the “family glitch,” we were able to save more than five million Americans thousands on their health insurance premiums,” said Representative Craig. “Given these developments, I encourage all Minnesotans to check to see if they or their family are able to take advantage of these savings before December 15.”
The Inflation Reduction Act – which Representative Craig helped pass this summer – extends the ACA’s health insurance tax credits through 2025, making health insurance more affordable for the millions of people who are insured through the individual marketplace. Without the extension of these credits, approximately 3 million Americans could have lost their health insurance and more than 10 million Americans would have seen their premium tax credits reduced or eliminated.
Additionally, Representative Craig successfully led efforts to close the ACA’s “family glitch,” saving more than five million Americans thousands on their health insurance premiums. In October, the administration issued the final rule to close the long-standing gap in coverage – and make health care more accessible and affordable for working families across the country.
All Minnesotans are encouraged to visit MNsure.org before December 15 to review coverage options and determine their eligibility for subsidized health care coverage beginning on January 1, 2023.
