Congresswoman Angie Craig Submits Request for the Scott County Sheriff Department to Receive $84,000 for the Purchase of Disaster Relief and Rescue Technology and Equipment
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig announced her submission for the Scott County Sheriff Department to receive $84,000 to purchase disaster relief and rescue equipment and technology in 2023. Craig submitted her request for Community Project Funding (CPF) for the Fiscal Year 2023 Appropriations process, through which Members of Congress are able to request funding for up to 15 specific projects in their districts which would serve the public good.
"I'm proud to announce my submission for Scott County to receive federal support for this important equipment," said Representative Craig. "Our emergency responders often undertake incredibly dangerous rescue missions. This funding would help ensure that they are equipped with all that they need to effectively take on these operations in the safest way possible."
"Ensuring our communities are safe is top of mind for me as the Sheriff of Scott County. The right equipment and technology can make a huge impact in life-saving efforts for residents in Scott County and beyond," said Scott County Sheriff Luke Hennen. "The funding that Representative Craig has requested for the Scott County Sheriff's Office would assist us in responding to and rescuing those who are injured or require immediate care."
The funding would be used for the purchase of life-saving evacuation and disaster relief equipment and technology. This equipment and technology would assist in the response, rescue, and recovery of a person(s) who is injured, requiring medical attention or care. Equipment purchased could also assist with barricaded subjects trapped due to natural or other disasters in the field. The main focus of the request is to ensure community safety while providing swift and comprehensive disaster relief and response efforts.
The House Appropriations Committee intends to fund community projects on a limited basis in the FY23 Appropriations bills. Therefore, CPF requests that address the most significant needs of local communities or provide a significant public good are more likely to be included. The CPF program is being implemented with accountability measures to ensure a responsible and transparent process.
