Congresswoman Angie Craig Submits Request for the City of Farmington to Receive $3.6 Million for Rambling River Center and Exterior Plaza Project

June 8, 2022

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig announced her submission for the City of Farmington to receive $3,658,675 to complete the Rambling River Center and Exterior Plaza project in 2023. Craig submitted her request for Community Project Funding (CPF) for the Fiscal Year 2023 Appropriations process, through which Members of Congress are able to request funding for up to 15 specific projects in their districts which would serve the public good.

"I'm proud to announce my submission for the City of Farmington to receive federal support for this important project," saidRepresentative Craig. "These funds would provide some much-needed updates to the Rambling River Center and Exterior Plaza – creating yet another great venue where Minnesotans of all ages can gather and celebrate together."

"We are proud to have such a vibrant, tight-knit community here in Farmington and are thrilled to have Representative Craig fighting to bring $3.6 million back to Minnesota to build the accessible community center that all Farmington residents, especially our seniors, deserve," said Farmington Mayor Joshua Hoyt. "The new and improved center will serve as a downtown attraction and community gathering place for years to come."

The funding would be used for interior rehabilitation and exterior expansion of the Rambling River Center and Exterior Plaza, which includes a multi-use plaza. The building is used by residents 50+ and for local community events. In 2017, the city completed a community study to learn more about how this space could be updated to improve function and efficiency and provide a safe and organized amenity for seniors. The update will allow for additional interior and exterior senior programming, safety and accessibility, flexibility of space, increased capacity and serve as a downtown destination which will benefit the greater downtown area.

The House Appropriations Committee intends to fund community projects on a limited basis in the FY23 Appropriations bills. Therefore, CPF requests that address the most significant needs of local communities or provide a significant public good are more likely to be included. The CPF program is being implemented with accountability measures to ensure a responsible and transparent process
