Congresswoman Angie Craig: “Postal Workers are Keeping Us Healthy and Connected”

August 19, 2020

Rep. Craig Visited South St. Paul and Burnsville Post Offices

Yesterday, Rep. Angie Craig visited postal workers at the South St. Paul Post Office, following her visit to the Burnsville Post Office in May to thank employees for their important work as they keep our nation running.

Last week, Rep. Craig sent a letter to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie, Jr. asking them to urgently set aside political games and prioritize delivering mail, including prescription drugs to America's veterans. She is a cosponsor of the Delivering for America Act which would prohibit the Postal Service from implementing any changes to the operations or level of service it had in place on January 1, 2020, until the COVID-19 pandemic has ended. This legislation would maintain current service standards as well as the integrity of our elections and bedrock democratic principles. The House will vote on this legislation on Saturday.

You can watch a video of Rep. Craig's visit to the Burnsville Post Office here.

"The USPS is one of our country's most cherished institutions and I will not stand by as political attacks threaten their work to keep so many of us connected to our families and loved ones," said Rep. Craig. "Minnesota seniors, veterans, and rural communities rely on the USPS to affordably deliver life-saving medications and important documents through the mail. We've got to come together to protect these essential workers and the services they provide to folks across Minnesota's Second Congressional District."
