Congresswoman Angie Craig Introduces Restoring Integrity In Democracy Resolution
The resolution would prohibit federally elected and appointed officials from serving on for-profit Corporate boards
Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Angie Craig (MN-02) today announced that she introduced the Restoring Integrity in Democracy Resolution. The resolution is aimed at eliminating conflicts of interest for Members of Congress and appointed officials - by prohibiting them from serving on for-profit boards.
"I'm fighting to give power back to hardworking families by making sure their voices are heard and represented by federally elected officials," said Rep. Angie Craig. "This legislation aims to rid our political system of the possibility of a conflict of interest where a Member could put representing a company or their personal interests above representing their constituents."
The Restoring Integrity in Democracy Resolution is part of the comprehensive reform package in the For the People Act, H.R. 1, the first bill Rep. Craig cosponsored in Congress. H.R.1, aims to strengthen our democracy by making it easier to vote and creating tougher standards against corruption and dark money in politics. It is expected to receive a floor vote within the next few weeks.
