RED RIVER FARM NETWORK: Craig Criticizes White House Over Farm Policy

December 10, 2025

House Agriculture Committee Ranking Member Representative Angie Craig used the panel’s annual Member Day hearing to sharply criticize the administration’s approach to farm and food policy. Craig said rising costs, trade instability, and policy uncertainty are hurting producers and families across rural America. Craig said many of the challenges facing farmers stem directly from decisions made by the White House. “It has become crystal clear that the White House is not listening to farmers or families right now, and that many of our Republican colleagues sadly are not speaking up,” Craig said. “An idiotic trade war, band-aid relief programs that pick winners and losers in the ag economy, nonstop lies and misinformation about SNAP, pretending that there is no affordability crisis. The administration has prioritized rushing a $40 billion bailout to Argentina instead of ending the trade war that has contributed to increasing farm bankruptcies this year, compared to recent years, and cost farmers nearly $30 billion in losses.” Craig urged Republicans on the committee to help push for more stable farm, food, and trade policies, saying Congress must acknowledge rising costs and strengthen support for farmers and rural communities.
