RED RIVER FARM NETWORK: Craig Criticizes GOP Farm Bill Draft

February 16, 2026

House Ag Committee Ranking Member Angie Craig is criticizing the Republican majority’s newly released farm bill text, saying it does not adequately address the economic pressures facing farmers and working families. Craig said the proposal falls short of responding to rising input costs, unstable trade relationships, and the broader financial strain in Rural America. The Minnesota lawmaker called on Congress to move quickly to address inflationary tariffs, stabilize trade, expand domestic market opportunities, such as year-round E15, and lower production expenses. She argued the current draft overlooks Democratic priorities and risks delaying meaningful progress. Craig is urging Republican leaders to work toward a bipartisan farm bill that provides stronger, more immediate support for farmers and rural communities.
