KAAL: Rep. Angie Craig introduces bill to regulate hemp products instead of ban
July 22, 2026
(ABC 6 News)–Minnesota Congresswoman Angie Craig is introducing bipartisan legislation aimed at regulating hemp products rather than banning most of them.
The proposal comes after President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” which was signed into law last November. The law would limit hemp products to 0.4 milligrams of THC per container beginning November 12.
Craig’s legislation would create national THC limits while adding new requirements such as product testing, clear labeling, child-resistant packaging and age verification for buyers 21 and older.
The Hemp Industry and Farmers of America supports the bill, saying it would help protect consumers and preserve more than 3,400 Minnesota jobs tied to the hemp industry.
