DAKOTA TIMES: Angie Craig highlights detention case and congressional misconduct allegations

April 14, 2026

U.S. Representative Angie Craig, who serves Minnesota’s 2nd district in Congress, has recently used her social media platform to address concerns regarding a detained constituent and allegations of misconduct against fellow lawmakers.

On April 13, 2026, Craig wrote about the case of her constituent Andrea, stating, “My constituent Andrea, who is being detained in Texas, has been denied the critical medical care she needs for months. She’s living in constant pain. Now, her habeas corpus petition has been denied because of the lies ICE has been feeding to the courts. This is unacceptable.”

The following day, on April 14, 2026, Craig posted an update on her office’s efforts: “For over a month, my office has been going back and forth with ICE about Andrea’s condition. We’ve been ignored, brushed off and even lied to about the treatment she’s received. It’s time to bring Andrea home.”

In another post on April 13, 2026, Craig addressed recent misconduct allegations involving members of Congress: “The sexual assault and misconduct allegations against Reps. Swalwell and Gonzales are deeply troubling. I’m heartbroken for the young women who came forward to bravely tell their stories, and for the irreparable harm done. There’s a larger pattern here. For too long, Washington”

Craig has represented Minnesota’s 2nd district since replacing Jason Lewis in 2019. She was born in West Helena, Arkansas in 1972 and currently resides in Prior Lake. Craig earned her BA from the University of Memphis in 1994.
