U.S. House of Representative Approves Funding for 13 Community Projects Championed by Representative Angie Craig

July 21, 2022

Craig’s projects will return nearly $30 million in taxpayer funds to support local projects throughout the Second District

WASHINGTON, DC – This week, the U.S. House of Representatives approved nearly $30 million in federal funding for local projects in communities across Southeastern Minnesota. Over the past year, Representative Craig consulted with local mayors, sheriffs and community leaders to identify projects that would strengthen local infrastructure, grow the economy and improve public safety. In the coming months, the Senate is expected to vote on the appropriations packages that will include these projects.

"Over the past year, I have worked closely with local leaders to identify local projects that will create jobs, strengthen our economy, improve infrastructure and make our communities safer," said Representative Craig, "Today, I am thrilled to announce that the House has approved my submissions to return almost $30 million in taxpayer funds back to the Second District to support these critical projects."

Below is a list of the projects approved in legislation by the U.S. House of Representatives:

Two of Representative Craig's community projects are still pending approval from the full House of Representatives in a separate appropriations bill – the Scott County Sheriff's Department Acquisition of Disaster Relief and Rescue Equipment and Technology and the Dakota County Sheriff's Department Electronic Crimes Prevention Unit. Craig is actively working with members of both parties to prioritize the passage of those projects, which would direct additional resources to local law enforcement agencies to build safer and more secure communities in Minnesota's Second Congressional District.

Craig submitted her request for Community Project Funding (CPF) for the Fiscal Year 2023 Appropriations process, through which Members of Congress are able to request funding for up to 15 specific projects in their districts which would serve the public good. In selecting which submissions to approve, the House Appropriations Committee has prioritized projects that address the most significant needs of local communities or provide a significant public good. The CPF program is being implemented with accountability measures to ensure a responsible and transparent process.
