Reps. Craig, Gottheimer Urge Swift Adoption of Biden Admin. Rule to Restrict Federal Funds for Crisis Pregnancy Centers
Last week, Reps. Craig and Gottheimer voted against GOP legislation to expand funding for crisis pregnancy centers
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representatives Angie Craig and Josh Gottheimer urged the Biden Administration to adopt its proposed rule to restrict federal funding for crisis pregnancy centers.
Crisis pregnancy centers masquerade as legitimate health care providers – using deceptive signs and advertisements to attract women seeking abortion services – but in reality, they offer dangerous medical misinformation and discourage women from seeking abortion care.
“Every piece of anti-choice legislation the GOP passes is a step toward their ultimate goal of a federal abortion ban – we’ve got to fight back every single time,” said Rep. Craig.“Taxpayer dollars must not be used for medical misinformation. I applaud the Administration’s leadership on this issue and urge the swift adoption of this rule.”
Last week, House Republicans passed legislation to continue to allow federal funding for crisis pregnancy centers – a direct counter to this proposed Biden Administration rule.
Rep. Craig is a leader in the fight to expand and protect women’s fundamental rights and access to health care. She fiercely opposed the overturning of Roe v. Wade and introduced the Right to Contraception Act last year to protect the rights of women and their doctors to access and prescribe contraceptives.
