January 22, 2020

Today, Rep. "I'm thankful that the Inver Grove School District had an important discussion with me today about the importance of free and reduced lunch programs. I've heard too many stories about students not being able to learn to their full ability because they aren't getting proper nutrition," said Rep. Angie Craig. "I'm proud to be their partner in Congress in supporting the Anti-Lunch Shaming Act because no child should be treated differently or stigmatized because they cannot afford school lunch."

Rep. Craig is a fierce advocate for students. She is pushing the IDEA Full Funding Act of 2019 which would require the federal government to fulfill its promise to Minnesota schools and fully fund special education.

In the year-end package of legislation, Rep. Craig supported $23.6 billion in required mandatory funding for child nutrition programs, which is nearly $500 million above the current level of funding. Additionally, she supported the Summer Food Service Program to ensure low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session. Her vote in 2019 allowed for this program to include funding for school breakfast grants for the first time in almost ten years.
