Rep. Angie Craig’s Statement on Administration’s Proposed Biofuels Plan
Today, U.S. Rep. Angie Craig issued the following statement in response to the Environmental Protection Agency’s plan to account for losses in biofuel demand caused by the EPA’s issuance of waivers for oil companies.
“Once again, this Administration has chosen big oil executives over family farmers,” said Rep. Craig. “The EPA has broken its promise to provide a substantial boost to U.S. biofuels production in favor of lining the pockets of big oil executives and lobbyists. During a time of record trade tensions and tough weather conditions, I urge this Administration to reconsider this deceptive plan and fulfill their promise to fully account for lost biofuels demand as required by law. I stand ready to work with this Administration to continue to protect the livelihoods of Minnesota family farmers.”
Rep. Craig is a member of the bipartisan Congressional Biofuels Caucus and a cosponsor of H.R.3006 - the Renewable Fuel Standard Integrity Act of 2019, a bipartisan bill which will bring accountability and transparency to the EPA’s issuance of small refinery waivers.
