Rep. Angie Craig Announces Brian Peters, Executive Director of the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association, as her State of the Union Guest

March 7, 2024

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig announced that Brian Peters, Executive Director of the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association (MPPOA), will be her guest for the State of the Union address tonight.

With over 10,000 members across the state, MPPOA is the largest association representing rank-and-file peace and police officers in Minnesota.

“I am honored to welcome Brian to Washington tonight to represent and honor all police officers throughout the Second District and across Minnesota who put their lives on the line each day to protect our communities,” said Rep. Craig. “The recent tragic loss of Burnsville Police Officers Matthew Ruge and Paul Elmstrand and Firefighter/Paramedic Adam Finseth in the line of duty was a solemn reminder of the tremendous personal risk that Minnesota’s public safety and first responders face every day. I remain committed to supporting their work to protect our communities.”

“I’m proud to represent the men and women of rank and file law enforcement who protect and serve to keep communities safe. Public safety officials need help during this recruitment and retention crisis: we need community support, and resources to do our jobs effectively and safely. Thank you to Congresswoman Craig for highlighting Minnesota law enforcement on the national stage,” said Peters.

Peters has been the Executive Director of the MPPOA since 2019. Before that, he served with the Brooklyn Center Police Department as a Patrol Officer, Community Service Officer, Sergeant and Commander.
